Description
NORTHSONG is my first ever project. A symphonic folk/Viking metal solo project I founded in 2010. Basing its lyricism off of Norse mythology, along with epic stories and battles set in the Viking Age, it is essential music for listeners of Ensiferum, Amon Amarth, Moonsorrow, and any other fans of Viking and folk metal. The musical compositions can be described as a combination of heavy guitar riffs, epic melodies, symphonic keyboard entries, with a battle-like atmosphere and an assortment of folk-oriented instruments.

Biography
My first ever project, Northsong, began its life in the midsummer of 2010. Before long, a demo version of my first song, “Mountains of Madness” was composed and recorded. The song received much praise from friends, and because of the kind words received from the first song, I began writing more folk metal. Eventually I had enough songs to begin recording the debut release, “Winter’s Dominion”, a six-track EP, including a cover of a song by Windrider, the solo project of Elliot Vernon of Alestorm, who at the time was a huge inspiration – and help – to me. The EP got very positive reviews, and it opened up new opportunities for me.
I immediately began work on a second release – a full length album, entitled “The Final Journey.” It was released on April 9th, 2013 and was influenced by a much wider range of artists than Winter’s Dominion. During and after the recording of this album, I also recorded several covers of various songs. After the release of TFJ, I began work on new material for another full length album, though personal matters and many complicated plans interfered with my progress for awhile. Instead, I decided to release a 3-track single entitled “Forgotten Tales” on August 20th, 2013. It contained tracks to be included on the next planned full-length album.
In 2015, hoping to make up for the lack of new material for awhile, I planned a full re-recording of the Winter’s Dominion. I actually recorded and mastered all of it during the course of 2015, because I was already planning to move to Argentina toward the end of the year and I knew I wouldn’t be able to take my instruments with me. So, I held onto the finished re-recordings and all the other bonus tracks until I released “Winter’s Dominion: 5th Anniversary” on June 24th, 2016 – exactly five years after the release of the original Winter’s Dominion.
Much later in 2020, the Northsong album that was being worked on for the last 5 years was finally coming out of limbo and was being worked on again. It finally released on October 2nd, 2021 under the title “Northern Winds & Winter Hymns“. It included 12 diverse tracks that took influence from power metal to black metal and everything in between, and it also had the most clean vocals on a Northsong album up until this point. The tracklist even included re-recorded versions of songs from the Forgotten Tales EP, as well as “Titan”, which first made an appearance in WD:5A.
