Getting Involved Again

It’s no secret that I haven’t produced much music in the last year. While a lot of it was brought on by drastic life changes and a busy work schedule, I admit a lot of it was a lack of motivation, too. I burned myself out on Phase One of my releases and felt like I needed a long break. Even when I tried to write something or record a quick clip, I immediately felt the boredom setting in quick, frequently getting little to nothing done.

Motivation is something I’ve struggled with a lot with my music projects, and its heaviest onset was my time in Argentina where I didn’t have any instruments for at least four years. Then when I started this website to consolidate my projects, I felt a continuous need to always be posting news and updates to social media in an attempt to “stay relevant”. Add that to how I often dedicate all of my free time to extremely time-consuming video games, and it’s a perfect recipe for idle hands as far as music is concerned.

However, I’m happy to report that for the first time in a while, I’m beginning to feel genuinely motivated to work on music again. I have two releases actively in the works, one of them nearly finished. I don’t want to announce exactly what they are until I’m ready, but they ARE actively being worked on. I still have third and fourth ones as well, but they may take a bit more time than these other two. Together, these four albums will make up Phase Two of my release schedule. They include:

  1. Shadowforge – new music
  2. Northsong – new album
  3. Ebon Arcanum – new music
  4. Shadowforge – additional surprise release

I also mentioned in my introductory post that I’d also be doing covers and other similar content to boost my activity, but to this day I still haven’t done any of that. This year I want to get started on that, but I also have to be careful not to burn myself out again and consider how I want to approach this aspect of my music.

See you soon!
