Update 4/25/2021

I’m going through a lot of life changes right now – good ones, thankfully. I’m back in the States again, this time with my wife and son, so my environment has totally changed along with the music-making tools that are available to me.

I’ll have to get all new recording equipment while I’m here, since I didn’t bring any of my old equipment with me. This will cause me a bit of a delay with recording music, but I consider this to be a good thing for a couple of different reasons.

For one, it takes a lot of time and energy to adjust to living in a new country, even if I am back in my home country. I have an excuse to not stress myself out and feel like I constantly have to be grinding on a new album as I’m adapting to my new situation. Secondly, I’ve been using the same old recording equipment since I began seriously making music back in 2010. This gives me a good reason to upgrade a lot of the tools I’ve been using all this time to something much better and more modern.

I’m focusing first on getting a new condenser microphone and a USB interface, plus all the things that will make these two things work together and sound great (stand, pop shield, cables, etc.) The microphone is first since Northsong is still next on the list for my current release cycle and only needs vocals, but I can’t use the mic to record if I don’t have a USB interface. After I get all that taken care of, I’ll probably splurge a little on a new guitar or some decent studio monitors. Who knows?

Anyway, I know it’s been a little quiet here for a couple of weeks, and it will probably continue being that way for at least another couple, but I wanted to be transparent and let all of you know the reason why. Don’t worry, I’m still here and making music!
