So I guess I owe all of you an explanation as to why I haven’t offered any news on the new album despite me saying awhile back that it should have been done by now. This last year I’ve been pretty busy with work and planning another trip to Venezuela to visit my wife, but that’s only a portion of the reason.
As a lot of you know, I’ve been done writing the album for awhile now, I just needed to record it. Unfortunately I’ve been pretty uninspired with my music and haven’t really been feeling in the mood to record anything for a long time. After releasing my Ebon Arcanum EP, my creativity was nearly exhausted, but I did end up recording a little bit of the new album. I’ve got all the instruments done for about 4 songs, though after that, I called it quits. Obviously when I say that I don’t mean I’ve stopped trying to record it for good, it’s just that I don’t have the energy or enthusiasm to record anymore for awhile. Every time I try to power through some recordings, it seems like a chore, and I really only end up trying for about a half hour before quitting with little to no progress.
Now, this issue combined with my upcoming trip in May means that there won’t be a new album any time soon. I will finish it eventually, but clearly I don’t have the time to finish it before I leave. In fact, I’d be lucky to get it done by the end of the year. The one thing I can promise you all is that I will definitely have the “Winter’s Dominion” re-release done on time next year, but until then, it’s uncertain whether or not I’ll be releasing any new material under Northsong for the next few months.
Sorry to disappoint everyone, but hey, at least the project is just on hold rather than being completely dead. And as always, thank you all for your continued support of my music.
