Due to the lack of updates in about a month, I figured I’d write another long post about how things are going for this project at this point.
First off, I’ve been getting a few inquiries about the state of my next album. As I’ve stated a few times before, it’s completely done with being composed. Unfortunately, I don’t have the funds or the resources to go ahead with recording it now. I sold my good computer and my only working guitar for a little extra pocket cash for when I went to Venezuela. I thought I would be staying there for 2 years, so I would have had the time to learn sufficient Spanish and get a job there. That way, I would have enough money to buy all my stuff back when I came back home. Obviously I wasn’t able to stay that long, and ended up coming back just 6 months later. To make matters worse, I barely had any money to my name, and still don’t. Now I’m stuck with a slow laptop I can’t record on, and no working guitar even if I could.
Ever since I got home a month ago, I’ve been trying to find a full time job so I can buy everything I need to get Northsong back on track (Although my first priority is getting my wife’s immigration paperwork and fees out of the way) I’m fairly certain I could get a lot of that over with within the first month of working, because really all I need to get up and running again is a better computer and to have my 7-string guitar fixed. It’s all just a matter of when someone decides they want to hire my ass.
Anywho, once I’m finished with this new album and after it’s released, I’m probably going to take a “creative break.” I may or may not work on my other project, Ebon Arcanum, in the meantime. I’m losing interest and inspiration for writing folk metal, and each song I write is becoming more and more of a chore to finish, so I believe it is for the best that I take some time to replenish my metaphorical creative juices. I don’t think this will be the end of Northsong, but it will more than likely be the end of the “Viking” aspect of it.
And that’s really all I have left to say. I figured I owed all of you an explanation as to why I haven’t been very active with Northsong lately, and I really just needed to get all of my thoughts down on ‘paper.’
Thank you all for your continued support of me and my project.
