It’s safe to say that the next full length album will be out sometime next year. In the last two weeks, I’ve completed writing three songs, one of them being the outro to the album, and the other two are in the average “Northsong” style more or less, both clocking in at around 7 minutes. Of course, newly mixed versions of the songs from the “Forgotten Tales” single will be on it as well, so that’s six songs in total. The length of all of them combined is a little over 30 minutes, which means the album is about halfway done as far as writing goes; recording is a whole different story.
This new album is unlike either Winter’s Dominion or The Final Journey. Winter’s Dominion was pure “Folk/Viking Metal” and only drew from a handful of influences. The Final Journey was the exact opposite, and drew from a huge range of influences, and had varying atmospheres and genres throughout. However, with this new album, I believe I came up with the perfect balance – it’s a combination of both of these releases. It brings back the “Viking” atmosphere of the first EP, but still has the variety of The Final Journey. I know that’s a bit vague, and it’s hard to describe the sound well, but you’ll know it when you hear it.
I’m going back to the US on February 25th next year, so expect some recording to start around then.
PS: I’ll be updating some aspects of the website shortly, so if something doesn’t look right, it’s because it’s still under maintenance.
